Mama2Mama: From Grassroots Charity to NHS-Funded Delivery

Read time: 2 Min

Charity funding strategy, evaluation and grant success

The Challenge
Mama2Mama is a grassroots baby bank rooted in South East London. With strong community reach and a trusted voice among families, they were ready to grow – but lacked capacity to secure larger funding, meet complex evaluation requirements or formalise their operations.

The Approach
We provided wraparound support to get them funder-ready:

  • Reviewed and improved governance documentation and policies

  • Built a scalable, values-led delivery model that captured their core activities

  • Created a live funding strategy aligned with NHS and statutory opportunities

  • Designed an outcomes framework and evaluation plan suitable for small teams

What We Delivered

  • Funding strategy and pipeline development

  • Bid writing and case for support development

  • Theory of change and outcomes framework design

  • Governance health check and capacity planning

The Result

Mama2Mama secured £150,000 from South East London NHS to deliver wraparound baby support to new mums in Thamesmead. The work remains rooted in community, but now has the funding and structure to grow.
